Dr. Husain is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, in Foot and Rearfoot Reconstruction/Ankle Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. In addition, he is the Program Director of the McLaren Oakland Hospital Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residency program, Chairman of the Michigan Podiatric Residency Consortium which provides educational meetings and workshops for the podiatric residency and fellowship programs in the metro-Detroit area. He is the President of the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association and President-Elect of the ACFAS Great Lakes Region.
After an undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA) with a Bachelor’s of Science in 1990, Dr. Husain graduated from the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine (Chicago, IL) and then completed a three-year surgical residency program at Beaumont Wayne Hospital (Wayne, MI) in 2003 under the guidance of Dr. Lawrence Fallat. He has also completed advanced external fixation training in Verona, Italy.
Dr. Husain’s areas of interest include foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, diabetic foot and wound care, and sports medicine. Since 2020, he has also been a section editor for the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery. In addition to these interests, Dr. Husain has received awards for numerous publications and presentations in these areas. He has contributed to McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook on Foot and Ankle Surgery. He routinely speaks at local, regional, and national conferences.
